Re: Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it

Thanks Tess for sharing your prayer. Here are some notes I made yesterday when I read Ps. 119 regarding the value of God's Word:

"Give me life according to your Word."
GOD GIVES LIFE THROUGH HIS WORD

"...strengthen me according to Your Word."
GOD GIVES STRENGTH THROUGH HIS WORD

"Put false ways far from me, and graciously teach me Your law!"
God's law is the opposite of false ways.

"Incline my heart to Your testimonies, and not to selfish gain!"
When my heart is inclined or leaning toward God's Word, it will be inclined away from selfish gain.

"Let Your steadfast love come to me, O Lord, Your salvation according to Your promise, then I shall have an answer for him who taunts me, for I trust in Your Word."
TRUST IN GOD'S PROMISE GIVES US AN ANSWER IN THE FACE OF PERSECUTION
   Parallel to I Peter 3:15

From Zayin Ps. 119:49-56
God's Word gives us our HOPE vs.49
His Promise gives us LIFE v.50
His "rules from of old"(i.e. His Word) bring COMFORT v.52
His statues are our SONGS v.54
We are BLESSED if we keep His precepts v.56

Father, thank you for you faithfulness.
I wander away from you, Lord.  Forgive me.
I desire Psalm 119:10 to be my earnest prayer to you this day:

Psalm 119
10 With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from Your commandments.

vs 21 You rebuke the arrogant, the cursed, Who wander from Your commandments.
May I not be a wanderer, but always in your shadow.

11 Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I might not sin against you.
Teach me to esteem your Word and treasure your Word above all else.

I love you.
Tess
